Being a teacher means that you care deeply about making a positive impact on those around you, and you do so by bringing joy, wonder, and learning to others. It might also means that you are underpaid, work long hours beyond those you’re paid for, and are simultaneously navigating the needs of your students, their families, your administrators, the school district, and beyond.
Teachers are often praised as being selfless for their work, but many people do not truly understand the weight that you are carrying with you all the time. As a teacher, you might feel:

As a therapist who has worked as a classroom teacher for over a decade, I deeply understand the mixed feelings that come with being a teacher. While we can’t change the systems and expectations that are put upon the profession, I can offer an empathetic, warm, and space
