Therapy for Educators
Being a teacher means that you care deeply about making a positive impact on those around you. It might also means that you are underpaid, work long hours beyond those you’re contracted for, and are navigating the simultaenous needs of your students, their families, your administrators, the school district, and beyond.
While teachers are often praised as being selfless for their work, many people do not truly understand the weight that you are carrying with you all the time, and how impossible the job can feel. As a teacher, you might feel:
overwhelmed
underappreciated
imposter syndrome
burn-out
work-life imbalance
As a therapist who has worked as a classroom teacher for over a decade, I deeply understand the conflicting feelings that can come with being a teacher. I can offer a warm, empathetic, and related space for you to express yourself and process your emotions. I will be an advocate for you, because I know how important it is to feel supported in this work. We can work together to help you:
find time and energy to prioritize yourself
improve work-life balance
explore and express your fears, needs, and desires
make big or small changes in your life, including leaving the teaching field
The first step to avoiding burn-out and fatigue is creating space for yourself, and therapy is a great place to start. I believe our work together will directly impact the way you show up in the classroom, as well as in your family, friendships, and, most importantly, in your relationship to self. I offer sliding scale rates to educators.
